In 2022 I forgot to account for commissions that I had taken in through a side paypal account when filing my taxes. 2022 was my first year doing the contracted stuff. A lot to learn. To my knowledge, I had covered all my bases. That was until I got a letter in the mail from the IRS in 2025. They remembered commissions I hadn't. And they were watching. Waiting. Until they eventually gave me a little nudge. "Hey you never paid these and now you have to pay a lot more because it's very late"...
